Itinerary
Evolve Back Coorg
Evolve Back Coorg sits on 300 acres of working coffee and spice plantation in Siddapura, bordered by the Cauvery River and the forests of the Western Ghats. Private pool villas, an Ayurvedic spa, and on-site experiences — plantation tours, coracle rides, coffee tastings — make it a self-contained base. The surrounding region combines Kodava cultural sites, a Tibetan Buddhist settlement established in the 1960s, wildlife corridors, and the high peaks of the Brahmagiri range.
Day 1: Arrival & Plantation Immersion
Morning: Arrive at Evolve Back Coorg. Check into your villa, welcome drink, and first look at the plantation grounds. Light walk through the estate.
Afternoon: 4x4 plantation tour — coffee and spice estates, with an introduction to cultivation cycles, varietals, and processing.
Evening: Spa session or pool time. Dinner featuring Kodava cuisine at the resort. Stargazing from the grounds.
Day 2: Elephant Camp & Coracle Ride
Morning: Drive to Dubare Elephant Camp on the Cauvery River. Observe the camp's working elephants — feeding and bathing routines conducted by the Karnataka Forest Department.
Afternoon: Return to Evolve Back for a coracle ride on the Cauvery River near the resort. The round woven-bamboo boats are a working tradition of the river's fishing communities.
Evening: Ayurvedic massage or resort leisure.
Day 3: Sacred River Source & Tibetan Monastery
Morning: Drive to Talakaveri on the Brahmagiri hills — the spring considered the source of the Cauvery River, and a significant pilgrimage site for the region's Hindu communities.
Afternoon: Continue to Namdroling Monastery in Bylakuppe — one of the largest Tibetan Buddhist settlements outside Tibet, established after the 1959 exile. The Zangdog Palri temple complex houses large gilded statues of Padmasambhava.
Evening: Return to Evolve Back. Coffee tasting session at the resort.
Day 4: Mandalpatti Peak & Chiklihole Reservoir
Morning: Early jeep drive to Mandalpatti Peak through the Pushpagiri Wildlife Sanctuary buffer zone. Mist clears through mid-morning; best light is early.
Afternoon: Chiklihole Reservoir — a quieter stop for birdwatching and open water views.
Evening: Birdwatching on the resort grounds, pool time, or a visit to the Ainemane — a traditional Kodava ancestral house on-site.
Day 5: Plantation Walk & Farewell
Morning: Optional visit to Abbey Falls or a deeper walk through the resort's plantation with a guide.
Afternoon: Spa, swimming, or a coffeeology session — Evolve Back's structured introduction to coffee from cherry to cup.
Evening: Farewell dinner at the resort. Prepare for departure the following morning.
