Elizabeth Scutchfield developed her initial taste for the power of transformational travel at the age of 18 while tagging along to a foreign study trip to Ecuador, where she gained an understanding for the variations of justice systems across the world through a visit to a women's prison and the challenges related to locally-driven conservation efforts at an ecotourism lodge. She nurtured those seeds further through seeking out the power of authentic cultural exchange through a foreign study trip to France and studying leaders of significant political movements through a tour of South Africa. Her career path led her through a variety of industries, including hospitality, healthcare, higher education, and international development. Within each of these domains she developed a skillfulness at launching new initiatives and programs through a human-centered design approach, always with an emphasis on building authentic community and partnerships to collectively drive momentum and positive cultural change. After her recent completion of the Transformational Travel Design Course with the Transformational Travel Council, she is joining the Postcard Travel Team to serve as a strategic advisor in brand building, program development, and partnership management. She believes deeply in the power the Postcard Travel has to elevate leaders in the responsible tourism movement, inspire travelers to build genuine connections with themselves, others, and nature, and reweave the social fabric across cultures through one of the most historic and natural artforms, storytelling.

Wanderlust has always tugged at Karen’s heart. An Aussie travel writer, editor, photographer, and animal lover, Karen has traveled the globe for more than 30 years, connecting with different cultures and immersing herself in the wonders of the natural world. Karen’s inaugural trip to Africa in 1995 left her feeling deeply humbled. Camping out in the wilderness with elephants and lions for many months, cooking over campfires, and absorbing timeless wisdom from local tribes transformed her view of the world. Instead of seeing herself as separate from nature, Karen realized that all life on Earth is inextricably bound. She realized that we have so much to learn from other cultures and that we are all craving the same things: love, purpose, and connection. As an Editor at Postcard Travel Club, connections are what Karen aspires to cultivate — connections between our community members, connections between our partners, connections with other cultures, and a deep reverence for and connection to Mother Earth. Karen still loves wild places. Her favorite travel adventures include walking with a herd of elephants through Botswana’s Okavango Delta, temple-hopping in Cambodia, and blissing out on a tiny island in the Bahamas for two years. She has lived in more than 10 countries, including Nambia, the Cayman Islands, Zimbabwe, Switzerland, Canada, Mexico, and France. Karen’s favorite assignment? Writing hotel profiles for more than 300 luxury resorts and game lodges in Africa, Central America, and the Caribbean. When they’re not on the road, Karen and her photographer husband, Brian Hastings, split their time between California, Mexico, and Australia.

Over the past two years, she has conceptualized and produced podcasts for brands, creators, and podcast platforms; including original shows for Spotify, Audible, and JioSaavn. She previously worked as the Lead Producer at Ideabrew Studios, a podcast production company. Currently, Rhea is an independent podcast consultant and producer working with clients across multiple industries such fashion, fintech, and travel. At Postcard Travel, Rhea is spearheading production for The Postcard Travel Show. Her vision is to leverage the medium of audio to showcase stories from the most innovative travel designers globally. She hopes that each episode will entertain listeners with the one-of-a-kind featured stories as well as inspire them to seek new adventures. Rhea’s mission is to create high-quality, purpose-driven podcasts.
